Two Hundred Evacuated In Kota Marudu Due To Floods

At least two hundred villagers here were evacuated from their homes after the district was hit by floods due to persistent rain over the past few days.

Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Seri Paduka Dr.Maximus Ongkili, who is also Kota Marudu MP seat, said, the flood victims were evacuated at Tonsom hall, SK.Binkongan, Mosolog hall, SK.Ranau and St.Teresa schools.

He said, some highway roads leading to Kota Marudu were cut off due to rising waters, while suspension bridges at Pinatau Village and Sungoi Village were swept away by strong currents.

pekan goshen kota marudu kena banjirAt some parts, the situation has become critical. The disaster management committee (DDMC) is requesting reinforcement of personnel rescue, as well as transport and logistics assistance.

The flood condition has shown requirement to channel foodstuff and essentials for affected villages. Therefore, the committee welcomes aid of this disaster, from the public and non-governmental organisations.
