Behind The Name Kota MaruduMaludu was a major Suluk town in the Suluk Sultanate province of north and northeast Borneo before 1845. It was declared as a place for the pirate of Serip Usman, governor of Ambong and Maludu. However, Maludu was attacked and destroyed by the British Navy of James Brook, the white king of Sarawak, on August 19, 1845. Serip Usman married a daughter of Raja Muda of Sulu and supported a faction in the Brunei Royal Court opposing the 'White Raja' rule of Sarawak.
