There is a new tour being offered to motorbike enthusiast. These are specially created tours on self-driven motorbikes. It can either be on good sealed road or off road or a combination of both, very much depending of the desire of the client and the itinerary chosen.
Ride Borneo is currently successfully offering such tours and they have been doing so since 2006.
Ride Borneo’s clients are mainly from Europe. The bikes are included in the package and basically you need to have an international motorbike license. Should you wish to have some off road riding in your package, you will need to have had some experience doing this before.

Itineraries can be either for a day or a few days. This can be just a trip to the Kinabalu Park and Poring hot springs or one that last about a week and covers most of Sabah’s places of interest. A trip is just not about riding a bike but various other elements like the culture, cuisine, places of interest and wildlife are included in the packages.
Getting to know and understand the various cultures and people of Sabah, depending on the area your passing thru is what adds the specialty to the tour, By riding bikes you have a first hand experience of getting to know the inhibitions as compered to seating in an air-conditioned coach. You also have the chance to stop almost anywhere you like. Of course it would be best if the weather was on you side and so it is better to come during the drier months.

The owner of Ride Borneo, Mr. Brandon Miles is a local and has been an off-road motorcyclist and tourist guide for many years,. He is the main tour leader and he organises and leads the tours together with an assistance that follows at the back with his motorbike. This is for safety purposes. Sometimes it might just be a couple on tours, or at times various biking clubs come in rather large groups to experience these tours. This is an up coming new sector of the tourism industry that is making inroads into the country.
